Ecasba - Fonasba

The Antwerp Shipping Federation is through NAVES also member of FONASBA (Federation of National Associations of Shipbrokers and Agents) and its European division ECASBA (European Community Association of Ship Brokers and Agents).
FONASBA as a global organisation represents the interests of ship's agents and brokers worldwide and cooperates with other international interest groups in order to make decisions or give advice on issues that arise in the shipping industry.  Membership of the federation is limited to one member per country, with the additional condition that the members have an interest in matters related to ship's agents and brokers.

There is a standard document developed by FONASBA (the Standard Liner and General Agency Agreement) which lists the obligations of both the agent and his principal.
ECASBA is the European sub-organisation founded in 1990.  As FONASBA, it represents the interests of ship's agents and brokers, but at European level.
